FGF-basic is one of 23 known members of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development, postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-basic is a non-glycosylated, heparin-binding growth factor that is expressed in the brain, pituitary, kidney, retina, bone, testis, adrenal gland, liver, monocytes, epithelial cells and endothelial cells |

碱性成纤维细胞生长因子(FGFbasic),又名bFGF、FGF2或FGF-β,是成纤维细胞生长因子家族中的一员。在正常组织的伤口愈合和肿瘤发展过程中,硫酸乙酰肝素降解酶激活FGFbasic来介导血管生成。另外,人类脂肪细胞可合成和分泌FGFbasic,它的浓度和血液样本中的BMI相关。研究显示低水平的FGFbasic在过度焦虑的发生中发挥重要作用。此外,FGFbasic是人类胚胎干细胞培养基中的重要组成成分,是维持细胞未分化状态的必要因素。FGFbasic与BMP4一起可促进干细胞分化为中胚层谱系。相比于未处理的干细胞,经BMP4和FGFbasic处理过的干细胞通常会分化出更多的成骨细胞和软骨细胞。
